Super Librarians!

Hey there! Welcome to my first blog post. I decided to start a blog to share Heart Shaped Dream’s highlights of the week so that you can peek into our crazy, fun world and see what we’ve been up to.
The Florida Library Association is a statewide organization that provides resources for Florida Libraries’ employees to grow professionally and ensure an amazing experience for their visitors that is nothing less than amazing. As an Orlando event photographer, I am happy that the public library offered different resources for business owners like myself when I started. As a mom, I visit the library with my kids often, not just because of books, but also because of the awesome, innovative, and fun activities they provide for them. Because of my personal experiences with the library, being chosen to be the Orlando event photographer for the FLA’s 2018 Annual Conference takes the highlight spot for Heart Shaped Dreams’ Blog this week!
The conference was held at the Caribe Royale Hotel’s Convention Center and hosted over 500 attendees. This year’s theme was “Unleash Your Superpower”. You may think that an Orlando event photographer only gets to capture serious moments at a corporate event, but the entire event was so much fun. I saw many human super heroes! Guests enjoyed different professional development activities, statewide awards, educational breakout sessions, networking opportunities, entertainment from performers’ showcases, a huge exhibit hall, a silent auction, and more.
One of the things I love most about being an Orlando event photographer other than photography itself, is that I always get to meet wonderful individuals from all over. Two special speakers stood out:
Brett Culp had the audience laughing, feeling inspired, and even shedding a few tears here and there. As an Orlando event photographer, I love capturing those type of candid moments. Culp is an acclaimed filmmaker who has been featured in outlets such as Netflix, USA Today, Wired, and more. Besides being a successful filmmaker, Culp continuously reminds us that the world is not all bad; that there are actually a lot of good people in the world. He is the co-founder of “The Rising Heroes Project” and his films have helped raise funds for numerous great causes. If you haven’t watched Legends of the Knight or Look to the Sky, I strongly recommend!
Book lovers might be familiar with New York Times bestselling author, Karen White, who has written a variety of books, including The House on Tradd Street, The Night the Lights Went Out, Dreams of Falling and many more. Her speech was fun, entertaining, and kept the audience engaged. A member of the audience stood up during question time just to comment on how brilliant she was at writing and speaking. She proceeded to advice Karen White to apply for an award. That is how much everyone loved her! At the end of her speech, she raffled a couple of gift sets and the winners went bananas! However, there is more to why I love being an Orlando event photographer. I truly enjoy all of the little challenges that come with it; such as multitasking, working in teams to capture activities happening at the same time, continuously adjusting my manual camera settings according to the exposure in each room, being alert to photograph anything interesting, and most importantly, ensuring the translation of emotions, essence of the event, and story from the people, into my lenses, and lastly into the final product while having covered any required specific set of shots or instructions as well!
I have to say that staying at the Caribe Royal Hotel for all three days enhanced my experience and workflow as an Orlando Event Photographer for this exciting gathering. My room was a homey one-bedroom suite. Having a desk and free wifi in the suite made it perfect for nightly SD card cleaning and uploading. The hotel itself is beautiful. I did not get to try the spa as I was very busy and working most of the day each day, but I woke up super early one morning to try the pool slide (it was so fun!). Additionally, when I was running around doing what I love and forgot to bring food, there were more than enough options available!
Super Librarians!
I would like to take a moment to thank my team member, Samantha Mitchell, the best assistant Orlando event photographer another Orlando event photographer could ask for. The following photo is one of her captures:
